Teacher Training Study Tours - Groups

INFORMATION SESSIONS

IH Sydney - Teacher Training Centre designs and provides high quality training programmes for groups of overseas teachers - English language teachers and subject/bilingual teachers (who are required to teach in English). 

Programmes are available for:

• primary teachers
• high school teachers
• university lecturers.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

Participating teachers are issued with an IH Sydney Certificate in TESOL certificate outlining the course content and hours studied.

CERTIFICATION & RECOGNITION

Tailor made courses are designed using the following modules:

• Classroom Skills for English Language Teachers
• Speaking & Listening Skills for English Teachers
• Bilingual Teaching Methods
• Teaching Younger Learners
• Observation of Australian schools in conjunction with the NSW Department of Education
• Developing Materials for the ELT Classroom
• Teaching Practice, Observation & Feedback
• Teaching Pronunciation
• Teaching Writing Skills
• Australian Language & Culture.

Learning outcomes

Dependent on the design of the course, these may include:

• confidence using English in the classroom and with colleagues
• the principles of effective planning and communicative teaching methodology
• a range of practical skills for teaching English
• materials and resources.

Support services

Homestay accommodation, airport transfers and social programmes are available on request.

COURSE CONTENT

Optional assessment can be incorporated into each programme, including:

• written assessment tasks
• teaching practicum 
• reports based on performance during the course.

ASSESSMENT

• intermediate level of English or above.  
  Please note that formal test results are not required. 

ENTRY CRITERIA

• two to 12 weeks in length
• 3, 4.5 or 6 hours of study per day.

Course delivery is available in Sydney, overseas or a combination of both locations.

COURSE LENGTH

• maximum class size is 26 teachers.

CLASS SIZE

This course is not available for student visa holders

Visas for non Australian passport holders include:

• visitors visa
• working holiday visa

• accredited by the University of Cambridge
• post-graduate industry qualified
• experienced teacher trainers with an average of 12 years experience.
