COURSE DESCRIPTION

The professional development range of courses offered by IH Sydney - Teacher Training Centre is designed for teachers who want to develop specialist skills.  Each module contains commentaries to offer background information on TESOL methodology, solutions to problems, activities and practical ideas to use in the classroom.  Delivered by distance learning trainees can study in their own time and at their own pace, anywhere in the world.

Teaching 1-to-1 is designed for TESOL graduates and ELT teachers who want to offer private tuition or teach 1-to-1 to adult language learners.

• tools to assess the needs of your individual students
• an ability to tailor study programmes and materials that motivate each of your students.

CERTIFICATION & RECOGNITION

Certification is issued by IH Sydney – Teacher Training Centre upon successful course completion.

COURSE CONTENT

Ten modules:

• Motivation and learning styles
• Needs analysis and level testing 
• Planning a series of lessons
• Teacher roles and cultural awareness 
• Materials  
• The role of formal instruction in learning
• Writing skills and written reformulation 
• Techniques to help students speak
• Speaking skills and spoken reformulation
• Learner training and study skills.

ASSESSMENT

Assessment in the form of a written examination is incorporated in the programme and must be successfully completed to qualify for certification.

COURSE LENGTH

• 20 hours of guided distance learning 
• final examination.

Teaching 1 to 1 has been developed by members of the IH Sydney - Teacher Training academic staff.  All of our trainers are:

• accredited by the University of Cambridge
• post-graduate industry qualified
• experienced teacher trainers with an average of 12 years experience.
