Introduction to TESOL (Distance Ed)

COURSE DESCRIPTION

Thinking of teaching English overseas? This course is designed for volunteer English teachers, the Introduction to TESOL course is recognised by Antipodeans Abroad for working on abroad community projects.  Offered by distance this programme can be taken anywhere in the world.

Learning Outcomes

You will gain a platform of knowledge of English language teaching principles and an understanding of common challenges that teachers encounter - from being aware of the reasons why students learn English through to lesson planning and developing your own classroom materials.

CERTIFICATION & RECOGNITION

Certification is issued by IH Sydney – Teacher Training Centre upon successful course completion.

COURSE CONTENT

Eight modules:

• English learners, teachers and lessons
• Managing the learning environment
• Teaching grammar and functions
• Teaching vocabulary
• The receptive skills: reading and listening
• The productive skills: speaking and writing
• Teaching resources and materials
• Challenges.

ASSESSMENT

Assessment in the form of a written examination is incorporated in the programme and must be successfully completed to qualify for certification.

COURSE LENGTH

• 60 hours of guided distance learning 
• final examination.

The Introduction to TESOL course has been developed by members of the IH Sydney - Teacher Training academic staff.  All of our trainers are:

• accredited by the University of Cambridge
• post-graduate industry qualified
• experienced teaching English overseas in many countries
• experienced teacher trainers with an average of 12 years experience.
