I am already using my CELTA, having just accepted a full time teaching position in Melbourne, at a Kindergarten-Year 12 independent school called Werribee Islamic School of Victoria. My role will be as a Year 2 classroom teacher, and I will teach ESL to primary students as part of the school’s ESL program. This is a great opportunity for me, and I am thrilled! Working with a community group that is on the periphery of Australia’s mainstream culture will be a facinating opportunity too, and the TESOL skills I have learnt at I.H. will be invaluable. I had reached a stage in life where I needed a change. I was looking to try something different to my role as HR manager and counsellor. The CELTA course at International House Sydney – Teacher Training Centre was ideal for me as I knew the course had international recognition and even though the one month course was very intensive, it was worth the effort to complete it in a short time. I very quickly found the promise fulfilled when I taught English to first year university students in China.

I am currently in Auckland, working at EF as a teacher and school administrator. I have also been contacted by a school in Cairns who has offered me a job as teacher and tour guide for their study tours. I haven't made my final decision yet but I am sure Australia will be my next destination.

Teaching's been really good to me since the CELTA course three years ago. I've now worked for a year in New Zealand, 13 months in China, 7 months in Poland, and this last month in Germany. I love teaching and all the perks that go with it, and so it will certainly be a long term career for me.  I am still grateful for the terrific course you all gave.

It was a great experience having such supportive tutors and enthusiastic classmates to get through the course.  Analysing teaching techniques and a number of teaching practices with real classes gave me an in-depth understanding of what teaching languages really is!  This course added so much true meaning of teaching to my work experience as an English conversation teacher, and I’m sure I will enjoy teaching English more and appreciate the joy of teaching.
