IH Sydney – Teacher Training Centre is a specialist TESOL/TEFL teacher training centre, training over 700 teachers annually from approximately 25 countries.

IH Sydney – Teacher Training Centre is a member of the International House World Organisation (IHWO), the oldest and largest independent network of language schools in the world.  Established in 1953, today the IHWO network has language schools in 46 countries.

The IHWO poineered TESOL teacher training in 1961.  IHWO is universally known for its ongoing expertise in this field. Collectively, the IHWO network of teachers and trainers are at the cutting edge of educational research, teaching techniques and materials development.  As a direct result, many internationally recognised English language teaching course books have been written by practising IH teachers.  

Locally, International House Sydney was founded in 1988 and boasts two schools: IH Sydney – Teacher Training Centre (TESOL) where people train to teach English overseas and here in Australia, and International House Sydney (English language centre) where students come from all over the world to develop their English skills.

IH Sydney – Teacher Training Centre is the only TESOL centre to be accredited by the University of Cambridge, NSW Vocational Education and Training Accreditation Board (VETAB), National English Language Teaching Accreditation Scheme (NEAS) and J-Shine (Japan).  Our commitment to quality training is central to our goal of raising the standards of English language teaching worldwide. 

At IH Sydney – Teacher Training Centre we work with students, agents, schools, universities and Ministries of Education to provide TESOL services locally and overseas.  We offer a full range of accredited TESOL courses for native and non-native English speakers, as initial teacher training and as professional development for experienced ESL/EFL teachers.  And we assist our graduates to find teaching jobs around the world with quality institutes.
